Are our lives a service to others?
The death of someone well known in the cycling world has led me to look at what I was taught as I grew up about my purpose in life.
I am reflecting on the messages we get from parents about why we are here, what our lives are for, and for some it is that we are here to help others. Unfortunately if we aren’t given enough to prepare us for this it can lead to dissatisfaction. And I’m not sure that all of our reasons are the same anyway. I think we are here to find a way to really enjoy ourselves, in expressing our uniqueness, and if that serves others wonderful, but that’s not why we should be doing it, and we certainly shouldn’t being dedicating our lives to doing something we aren’t inspired by.
