A beautiful thing happened
I was so delighted to be asked to create this beautiful Quaker Celebration of Marriage Certificate. I really enjoyed doing this. It opened up doors that had been closed for a long time, and unleashed my creative side in a fabulous way. I bought new paints, I had an excuse to go to a lovely art shop and buy huge sheets of 300gsm watercolour paper and experiment with botanical drawing and calligraphy that I used to do years ago separately, but now was invited to combine.
Then I was asked to be present at the ceremony, bringing the pen with Registrar's (permanent) ink for everyone present to sign and create this unique thing for the couple to keep that will alway remind them of their day and who was there. They chose the colours, the flowers and the people present. So it was theirs alone.
Here I am enjoying the centre stage for my work, which is on the table for everyone to sign, with the beautiful bride and her parents, and the groom looking on. It was a grand moment. You can see the certifcate here.
